The internet presents new opportunities for being both hidden and exposed.  Intelligence agencies and various governments fret about the advantages online anonymity gives miscreants and malcontents. Libertarians and civil liberties activists point to the technically and increasingly legally unlimited surveillance opportunities it provides. Is this a problem? Can we do anything about it?

Andreas Zaunseder (The University of Aberdeen, The University of Edinburgh) argues that ‘the darknet’ – currently home to geeks, thieves and drug dealers – actually gives us a potential way of taking back control.  Never mind the dark side – we need the dark net…

Ticket Purchase Terms and Conditions 

Please note that all debit and credit card transactions are subject to a 80p booking fee per ticket. This is capped at a maximum of £4.80 per transaction. Accepted payment methods are Visa, Mastercard, Maestro. We do not accept American Express. Please note this is a booking fee and not a surcharge. There is no booking fee applicable for in person sales paid by cash. A maximum of 20 tickets can be purchased in one transaction online per event date. Postage is available to select for an additional £1.50 per transaction and are sent as standard delivery, 2nd class. Postage is available for UK delivery only. Tickets can also be selected to be collected at one of our box offices free of charge. We advise you arrive at least 30 minutes before doors open for your selected shows to collect your tickets. For popular, sold out shows and at weekends we advise arriving further in advance. This allows you to join a queue as all venues are general admission. All venues are seated apart from Stand 1 which is seating and standing room. Once a delivery or collection method is selected, it cannot be changed.  A concession rate ticket applies to 65+, Students, unemployed, benefit recipients with proof of ID. Refunds can be requested 24 hours before the show start time by contacting our box office on 0131 558 9005 during office hours or email admin@thestand.co.uk. After this it is at the discretion of the company and promoters. Accepted refunds will be made for the ticket sale and do not include booking or postage fees unless there is company fault. If a member of your party has access requirements as part of your booking, please contact our box office on 0131 558 9005 or email admin@thestand.co.uk. Carers go free in our venues, so best to make your booking with us by phone or in person. Please book in advance for these tickets as we have limited access bookings per show due to listed buildings fire regulations. Our box office team will always endeavour to be as helpful and understanding as possible. We hope you enjoy the show!
